What should have been the happiest day of Ryleigh Nicole LaRock Graham’s life became a heartbreaking moment her family and friends will never forget.
The 26-year-old Oswego, New York, woman died in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 12, 2026, after complications from an unexpected brain infection — just hours after marrying the love of her life, Matthew Graham.
Ryleigh and Matthew had been together for seven years before finally saying "I do." A day that was supposed to mark the beginning of their next chapter together became a memory filled with both love and unimaginable loss.
Ryleigh Made the World More Colorful
Those who knew Ryleigh say she had a way of brightening any room she walked into. She worked as a school aide at Volney School in the Fulton City School District, where her creativity and kindness quickly made an impact.
After just one year on the job, Ryleigh received the Golden Apple Award for her outstanding work. She was especially known for her incredible artistic talent, including painting murals on the walls at school.
Her family says Ryleigh could paint "everything and anything," and she truly lived up to the idea of making the world a more colorful place.

Outside of school, Ryleigh loved crafting, traveling, and spending time outdoors. She especially enjoyed taking walks with her dog, Koda, and spending time with her tortoise, Ozzie.

Calling hours for Ryleigh will be held Monday, July 20, from 9 AM to 11 AM at Sugar Funeral Home in Fulton, New York. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM, with burial at Fairdale Cemetery.
While Ryleigh’s time on earth was far too short, the impact she made in 26 years was enormous. Through her artwork, her kindness, and the love she shared with those around her, she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to bring color and joy to the lives she touched.
