The Grateful Dead's seventh annual "Meet-Up at the Movies" event will bring the band back to theaters for a one-night-only event allowing fans to experience a 1989 concert with previously unreleased footage.

Hosted through a partnership between Fathom Events and Rhino Entertainment, this year's Meet-Up is being held on Aug. 1 — timed to celebrate what would have been the 75th birthday of the Dead's late frontman, Jerry Garcia. The one-night-only screening features performances filmed during the band's July 12, 1989, concert at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., where they played before a sold-out crowd of more than 40,000 fans.

"Earlier this spring, Dead Heads gathered in cinemas nationwide for The Grateful Dead Movie 40th anniversary,” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. "We’re pleased to present them with another opportunity to ‘Meet-Up’ at the movie theater this year."

The Dead's 1989 tour found the band riding a resurgence of popularity in the wake of its surprise 1987 hit, "Touch of Grey," which leads off a set list spanning a wide range of favorites — including the oft-played "Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo," an exclusive premiere of which you can watch above. Other highlights include what's being billed as "one of the only video recorded versions of 'Black Muddy River.'"

Tickets for the 2017 Meet-Up are on sale now through the Fathom Events website, where fans can also enter their zip codes to determine the closest of the more than 450 theaters hosting a screening.
