Memorial Day is three weeks away! Who wants to go swimming at Sylvan Beach?

Sylvan Beach mayor Greg Horan tells News Channel 9 that he's “99 percent sure” there will be supervised swimming at Sylvan Beach on about a 125-foot stretch just like they have in the past.

"I think that it's key to the beach to be able to have folks come here and enjoy that and we need to be able to have a safe environment for people that's huge,”

Last summer 125 feet of the beach was closed to swimming due to lack of funds for lifeguards, but they're hopeful that supervised swimming will start this Memorial Day weekend.

The mayor tells News Channel 9 that the village will be putting signs in to direct people down to the swimming area with lifeguards. There will be ‘no swimming’ signs where there is no supervision.
