Gene Simmons From Kiss Does Zoom Call For Upstate NY Music Class
When you're in high school and you take a History of Rock Music class you probably assume you're going to learn about the founding fathers of the blues and early rock and roll like the Beatles and Rolling Stones.
What you probably didn't assume was that one of the biggest, iconic figures in rock would call into your class and chat for over an hour, but that exactly what happened at Schalmont High School in Rotterdam.
Schalmont High School Senior, Gabe Unser is the person that contacted Gene Simmons and invited him to be a guest for the Rock Music Class. To his surprise, the KISS bassist and singer said yes. He agreed to join the class for 30 minutes and talk about the music business and tell a few stories and maybe answer a couple of questions.
I've talked to Gene Simmons a few times, and I can tell you he likes to talk a lot, so his agreed to 30 minutes became an hour and 15 minutes. During his time he talked about how KISS formed, told stories, and answered questions from the students. Before he signed off one of the students asked for an autograph for their teacher who was getting ready to retire. Instead, Gene Simmons agreed to send everyone an autograph.
Gene Simmons agreed to talk to the class because he was once a teacher and the request touched his heart.
