After almost 30 years of dedicated service to The New York State Police Trooper Timothy Pratt was killed in the line of duty while doing what he did best, helping others. This is a terrible loss for his family, friend, and fellow troopers. It is also a huge loss for the local community as well here in Upstate New York. Trooper Pratt actually had a really close tie to the 2015 Ride For Missing Children.

In the above photo, submitted by Dave Olney, you can see Trooper Tim seated on his motorcycle "MC-1" leading the over 400 riders safely through the ride route. He is pictured on the left. Also, pictured are colleagues Sgt. Eric Iacovissi (seated, right and Dave Olney (standing). It was nothing new to Trooper Pratt to take time to do such an awesome thing for a truly amazing organization. According to Olney 2015 was his first and only 'Ride For Missing Children' here locally, but he did so much more for other events. Dave says,

I met Tim for the first time that morning at around 5am at Troop D HQ where we were gathering to prepare for the start to the ride. I asked him where he was from and he said Troop G, Wilton... i joked about him having to have gotten up yesterday to have gotten here for today's ride. Throughout the day I must have seen him a hundred times blocking intersections and then jumping ahead of the very long ride. Every time we passed him at an intersection he had a smile and a wave for us. We talked at almost every stop. Both he and Sgt. Eric Iacovissi spent the entire day (an extremely long and exhausting day) doing their jobs with a smile on their faces and with great professionalism.

He goes on to say that even though both troopers were on the clock, they volunteered to do that assignment specifically. Pratt also participated in several charitable events in the Albany area, and most recently participated in the Governor's 9/11 tribute ride from Albany to New York City. NY Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed all state flags to be flown at half staff in his honor.

Please keep in your thoughts and prayers the family, friends, and brothers of Trooper Timothy Pratt. Another law enforcement officer killed while protecting others. He will never be forgotten.
