How would you like to work on a ship this Summer? Erie Canal Cruises in Rome are looking for Crew Members and Captains.

According to the release, responsibilities include greeting and boarding guests on the vessels, assisting the Captain in the safe operation of the vessels, along with general maintenance and cleaning. These are seasonal part-time positions running from mid-May through mid-October.

Operating United States Coast Guard certified vessels:

  • All Crew must pass a pre-employment USCG drug test and random drug testing.
  • All Crew is also required to have a current CPR/First Aid certificate.
  • US Coast Guard regulations require all Crew Members working on USCG certified vessels to be citizens of the United States.

Crew members who have basic mechanical skills are a plus, as is knowledge of Erie Canal history. If you are a USCG licensed Captain with a minimum license of inland 50-ton master you may be eligible for the Captain-in-Training program. This program can provide you with additional training for on-going development.

The release says:

We pride ourselves on running a tight ship! If you are a friendly, reliable and outgoing person who is looking for an exciting and dynamic summer opportunity, we would like to hear from you!
