The Village of Ilion is experiencing incidents of discolored water which have been caused by the iron content of the water from new wells.

Water Department employees are working with the project engineer and the State Department of Health to determine the treatment needed to stabilize the iron.

Village officials says it's anticipated that it may take 60 to 90 days for the system to clear.

Until then, residents may continue to periodically experience discolored water.

The water may continue to be used for all regular household purposes, including cooking, drinking and bathing.

For any questions, you can call the Village Office at 895-7449.
