Craft Beer For Non-Craft Beer Fans

Craft beer and Valentine's Day?  Does that match sound like a great idea?  Or does the idea of craft beer make you gag?  One of my favorite things about "craft beer" is the incredible variety of flavors.  Budweiser took a swipe at craft beer in their recent TV commercial, but they took advantage of the stereotype that all craft beer is "bitter".  I personally don't care for the really bitter "hoppy" beers, but there really is a lot more to it than that.  For example, I tried a really interesting tasting brown ale from Ommegang this weekend.

Ommegang's "Upside Brown" Farmhouse Brown Ale is part of their Brewmasters Obsession Series.  That's the point - these beers are an obsession for the people that make them, and those of us that find pleasure in seeking out something different.

How about this one from Saranac?

Saranac's Disruption Nitro Brown Ale is a very creamy and smooth beer.  That foamy head never really goes away!  This was a great brew for a wintry night.  And that's the fun of craft beer.  You get to try lots of completely different tasting beers.  So for Valentine's Day, maybe you and your significant other should consider a little craft brew sampling.  Or buy tickets to Utica On Tap and do some sampling with us!   It's March 7 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.  Click here to find out more.
