The 6-year-old son of Verona's councilman Fritz Scherz has written a version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" - and it's all about Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol.

Freddy is just 6 years old, but he already has a passion for music - and it's no wonder. His dad is Fritz Scherz, of the famous Fritz's Polka Band. "He started playing accordion a few months ago and is quite music-oriented. He loves to sing and just happened to surprise me yesterday morning by taking Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and changing the lyrics," Fritz says about his son.

Fritz says Freddy is a big fan of first responders, and especially Rob Maciol, "because Rob has attended quite a few of events over the years," including Fritz' annual Christmas party for the residents of Verona. That event had to be cancelled this year because of COVID, but that didn't stop Freddy from getting into the Christmas spirit - with a twist.

The little boy made up his very own lyrics to the song - all for his favorite Sheriff.

Sheriff Maciol shared the video of Freddy singing his official Christmas song, where the Sheriff rides in on his big police car, using his handcuffs to arrest anyone on the naughty list.

Sheriff Maciol and Councilman Scherz were among several community leaders who got together to perform a special reading of "The Polar Express" as well.
