Say you're going for the kids, but the kid inside all of us will scream for joy at this Christmas celebration. The Sesame Place theme park has expanded their usual holiday event to include a COVID safe drive-thru.

Sesame Place, the only U.S. only theme park devoted solely to Sesame Street  characters, is located outside of Philadelphia less than a five hour drive from Utica. The park has hosted a Christmas celebration, A Very Furry Christmas for years. Now with all the COVID protocols and guidelines, the park added, The Furry & Bright Christmas Drive-Thru.

Be part of the Neighborhood Street Party Christmas Parade as you drive thru Candy Cane Lane and Snowflake Way with a tunnel made of millions of twinkling lights, illuminated gum drops, 6 foot tall candy canes, and a winter snowfall experience. There's even a 9 foot illuminated menorah. It all ends Santa Claus wishing everyone happy holidays. And of course there will be oversized Elmo, Snuffleupagus, and Big Bird on hand too.

The drive-thru is open every Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 p.m. through December 23. Because the entire experience is from the comfort of your car, face coverings are only required at admission booth, restaurants, and gift shops. Admission is $45 per vehicle.

The parks annual event, A Very Furry Christmas is also open and features two Christmas shows, trains rides through the Twiddlebugs’ Gingerbread Cookie Factory. The celebration is open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday thru Sunday and everyday Christmas Eve through January 3 including Christmas Day. They will also host a special Hanukkah Celebration December 12, 13 and 18.
