Utica Comets Goalie Jacob Markstrom has been called up to the Vancouver Canucks after a solid season playing for the Comets.

Vancouver General Manager Jim Benning recalled Markstrom after the 25 year old racked up a 17-7-2 record including four shutouts this season.

Markstrom is second in the AHL in goals against, allowing just under two goals per game (1.95) and sits in third among AHL goalies in save percentage (.932).

The Comets will bring in goalie Pat Nagle from the Grand Rapids Griffins on a Professional Tryout contract(PTO).

Nagle has played in three AHL games this season, earning both his first start and first win with the Griffins over the Comets on January 23, while stopping 29 of 30 shots.

This season, Nagle is 1-1-0 with a 1.76 goals against average and a 0.948 save percentage.

In other Comets news, Rome native Tom Sestito will not play for the Comets or Canucks for the rest of this season.

In 10 games with the Comets this season, Sestito had just one goal on ten shots.

The Comets website says Sestito will work out independently and will continue to receive his salary while the Canucks work to find him a new team.
