Suspect in Lysander Bank Robbery Caught After Multi-Agency Police Chase
UPDATE: 08/04/2022 1203 A Liverpool man is under arrest, facing multiple charges following a police investigation into an alleged robbery of the NBT Bank in Baldwinsville, New York on July 22, 2022.
On August 3, 2022 the New York State Police says that an officer with the Cicero Police Department located a vehicle that was connected to two bank robberies. The car was found in a park in Brewerton. Upon seeing the police, the suspect drove off and a police chase ensued.
Police say the vehicle "traveled on I-81 into Oswego County and then back south into Onondaga County. As the suspect vehicle continued onto Rt 31, Henry Clay Boulevard, and then onto Verplank Road, an Onondaga County Sheriff Deputy deployed stop sticks at the intersection of Verplank Road and Caughdenoy Road which disabled his vehicle."
The NYSP says several agencies, in addition to the Cicero Police Department, assisted in the pursuit and investigation including the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office (including AIR 1), North Syracuse Police Department, Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Parole.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Andrew J. Bell of Liverpool, stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Caughdenoy and Mudd Mill Road and was taken into custody, police say, without additional incident.
Bell was brought to the Onondaga County Justice Center.
He faces the following charges:
- Robbery in the Thurd degree, a class “D” felony (NBT Bank)
- Assault in the Second degree, a class “D” felony
- Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in the Third degree, a class “A” misdemeanor
- Reckless endangerment in the Second degree, a class “A” misdemeanor
- numerous Vehicle & Traffic violations
The NYSP says that Bell is on parole for a 2015 arrest and conviction for Robbery in the First Degree from an incident in East Syracuse.

Police are asking for help from the public identifying the suspect in a bank robbery that took place in the Onondaga County village of Baldwinsville on Friday.
According to a written release from New York State Police, troopers and deputies from the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office were called to the scene after "a white male wearing a blue surgical mask, baseball cap, and a grey camouflage zipped jacket walked into the bank and handed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapon was displayed. He was last seen on foot leaving the bank and walking towards (Willett) Parkway (Radisson Development) at approximately 4:15pm on July 22, 2022.
The alleged robbery took place at the NBT Bank of Baldwinsville located at 8260 Willett Parkway, near the intersection of Route 31 and Willett Parkway in Lysander, New York,
