Corning, New York Has Been Named One of the Best Christmas Towns in the USA
If you're wondering what Christmas magic looks like, you need to look no further than Corning, New York!
From festivals and twinkling lights to giant festive trees to charming Christmassy activities for both young and old, Country Living Magazine has issued its list of the "55 Best Christmas Towns to Put on Your Holiday Bucket List."
Only three places in the entire state of New York (we're going to have to disagree with Country Living and say there are many more than just three) made the top 55 list. No surprise, New York City was one of those places, coming in at number 22.
Country Living said that while they understand New York City isn't exactly a town, it would be impossible for them to put together a list of the best Christmas places in the United States without including the Big Apple. Of New York City, Country Living Magazine said, "With its countless attractions, skating rinks, and shopping opportunities galore, it's an obvious choice for at least one of your family's Christmas trips."
The second place in New York to land on the list is Dyker Heights in Brooklyn. Country Living acknowledged that much like New York City, Dyker Heights (which came in at number 55) isn't exactly a small town, but "Residents of this walkable Italian-American enclave erect intricate and spectacular displays on and around their homes."
The third place in New York to gain a coveted spot on the top 55 list (which includes impressive places such as North Pole, Alaska, and Santa Claus, Indiana) is Corning which is located in Steuben County and is just a hop from Elmira and Corning actually placed higher than Dyker Heights, taking the 52nd spot.
Corning is home to the famed Corning Glass as well as some pretty amazing Christmas celebrations, apparently. Country Living describes Corning as "home to a sparkling holiday season." If you're looking for a place to visit that will put a little Christmas pep in your step, Corning would be it!
Also on the list (at number 33) is place totally within driving distance in Bernville, Pennsylvania. Bernville is home to an entire Christmas village and you NEED to check out the INCREDIBLE photos.
