After moving into our new apartment my girlfriend and I knew we had something missing, a pet. We both grew up in households with cats and dogs, and we both felt lonely. We looked all over for weeks for our perfect cat, and finally we found our furry fit. We made a trip to the Rome Humane Society on Sunday and adopted our new furry friend, Oliver.

When we went to the shelter the staff was so warm, welcoming, knowledgable, and was such a big help. They let us hold a few of the cats but none of them felt like the perfect pick until we held Oliver. He ran right to us and once we held him he licked our faces, and rubbed his head on ours. They always say that the pet picks the owner, and Oliver picked us.

You can join the Rome Humane Society on July 21st for the Alley Cats & Dogs fundraiser at King Pin Lanes on East Dominick Street in Rome at 1:00. There will be raffles, baked goods, pizza & soda, and adoptable animals. You can bowl two games, and get shoe rentals and refreshments for only $15. All the money raised goes straight to the shelter.
