Friday nights in the 70s after Johnny Carson came The Midnight Special. The show would be hosted by Wolfman Jack, and featured live performances by the 70s most popular bands and solo artists. Almost exactly 33 years ago to the day we would get to see Journey, The Charlie Daniels Band, Robert John, and George Benson all on the same show.Talk about star power, all four acts at that time were at the top of their game. Journey would start a whole string of hits starting with Any Way You Want It, Robert John Had a number one hit with Sad Eyes, The Charlie Daniels Band took The Devil Went Down To Georgia all the way to the top spot on the charts, and George Benson was already well established as a solo artist. The Midnight Special would air on NBC until 1981 ,when it was replaced by Friday Night Videos, due to the increasing popularity of music videos.
