3 ‘Outside the Box’ Utica Area Mother’s Day Outings
Taking mom out for brunch is an excellent way to show her much you love her, but the idea is also a little played out. Here are 3 unique ways to celebrate Mother's day in Central New York.
1. Fun on the Farm
If your mom is feeling a little adventurous, we suggest taking her to a barn. Wait, before you start raking us over the coals for being insensitive, look what this barn has to offer: Live music, hands on workshops, food, and lots of fun activities.
Destination Creation Festival happens at MKJ Farms, 6844 W. Hughes Road in Deansboro from 10-5 on Mom's Day, May 8th.
2. Theater for Two
Leading Ladies at the the Ilion Theater will make you laugh, cry, and cheer; you'll also leave this funny production, smarter and more well rounded, too.
Here's the play's plot according to Uticaod.Eviesays:
Two down on their luck Shakespearean actors come up with a scheme to impersonate a rich old lady's nephews in hope of sharing a $3 million inheritance. When they discover the lady has nieces and not nephews, they have to make a slight adjustment in their plans.
Showtime 2pm on Sunday May 8th, at the Ilion Little Theater, 13 Remington Avenue, Ilion. Tickets available at the door.
3. Hop Farm Happenings
If you've never been to Woodland Hop Farm and Fermentation, your missing out on the experience of a lifetime. Where else can you sip a brew made from locally grown ingredients, while listening to fantastic music?
Mother's Day will be extra special on the hop farm, because one of Central New York's premiere Irish groups, Craobh Dugan, will be performing. Bring mom in for a little "Bain Sult," and beer. Woodland Hop Farm and Fermentation is located at 6002 Trenton Road in Utica.
