11/11/11 Is Nerd New Year

Today's rare date, 11/11/11, means different things to different people. Some people like my mother are bracing themselves for the end of the world. Others are taking advantage of the unique date to have a baby or get married. Geeks in the Silicon Valley are celebrating "Nerd New Year."

A big block party is scheduled in Redwood City, California, to mark the occasion, leading up to a Nerd New Year's countdown to 11:11 p.m. It's actually a fun party listen to this, they're going to have four bands, food vendors, magicians, stilt walkers and fire dancers.

The event costs 11 dollars (of course) to get in. And of course don't expect to see any women there, whatsoever.
