Relay For Life

It’s easy to become part of the ‘Relay For Life’ movement and help finish the fight against cancer. All you need to do is sign up to participate or volunteer at your local Relay For Life event.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of the North Country will hold a free kickoff for the annual event on Thursday, March 10th at 6 PM at the Boonville Elks Club, 13054 Route 12 in Boonville. This year’s event has a sports theme - ‘Celebrate. Remember. Score A Cure!’.

Relay For Life events ~ community gatherings where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path.

Notre Dame High School’s basketball teams will be taking to the court for the January 12th match-up with Whitesboro looking to score, not only a home victory but also some additional support for the American Cancer Society’s efforts to fight the disease.

Every December, countless men and women in the Mohawk Valley vow to do more for their community in the new year. And with nearly 2,000 people expected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2016 in Oneida and Herkimer counties alone, one of the most impactful ways to give back is by getting involved with your local American Cancer Society.

Relay For Life websites across the country is now ready for you to register for the 2016 Relay For Life event. Last year more than $650,000.00 was raised locally for the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society is teaming up with the Utica Brewers to host the first ever ‘Relay For Life Night’ on Saturday, July 25th at Murnane Field in Utica with fireworks after the game.

Take the whole family out to a ball game this coming weekend when local baseball favorites, the Utica Brewers, host a local fundraiser to benefit the American Cancer Society.

96.1 The Eagle has been a sponsor of Relay For Life in the Mohawk Valley since the very first event was held in Utica in 1996 at Proctor High School. That first year, we had 25 teams and raised $35,000.

The weather looks perfect for the "Bark For Life" walk to benefit the American Cancer Society on Saturday.
