Downtown Rochester will be turned over to a celebration of the great American hamburger during the weekend of August 21.

The city will inaugurate the Great American Backyard Burger Festival. Festival oganizers estimate there will be 50 different styles of hamburger to sample.

The event also includes a eating contest featuring Rochester's signature dish, the Garbage Plate, a delicacy that landed the Flour City in the Top 10 New York Food Cities.

If you head to Rochester for the Burger Festival, it takes place at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park at Manhattan Square, near the Strong Museum. The festival runs Friday through Sunday August 21-23, 2015 and includes blues music and beer in addition to the burgers.
