There's another enormous nationwide beef recall due to possible salmonella contamination with 57 illnesses that have been reported from 16 states.

Todays 6.5 millions pounds of recalled beef has nothing to do with the 132,000 pounds of ground beef products that were recalled in early September for possible E coli contamination.

The USDA has announced that JBS Tolleson recalls approximately 6,500,966 pounds of raw beef that may be contaminated with Salmonella sold under Cedar River Farms Natural Beef, Comnor Perfect Choice, Grass Run Farms Natural Beef, Showcase, Showcase/Walmart, Gourmet Burger and JBS Generic.

All products subject to recall have “EST.267” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and should throw away the products or return them.

Eating food tainted with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis. Symptoms can include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours after eating the contaminated product. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Individuals concerned about an illness should contact their healthcare provider.

Consumers with questions regarding the recall can contact the JBS USA Consumer Hotline at (800) 727-2333.
