The New York Giants nearly pulled an opening night road win in Big D, but Tony Romo led a game-winning, six-play, 72-yard touchdown drive in the final 90 seconds for a stunning 27-26 win.

Romo connected with tight end Jason Witten for an 11-yard touchdown with just seven seconds left in the game to secure the win in the opening Sunday Night Football matchup. The dramatic ending was made worse by New York's previous possession, which could have been a game ending drive. But, poor clock management made the improbably ending possible.

Leading 23-20 and 5:08 remaining in regulation, the Giants marched 79 yards on 13 plays bringing the ball to the Cowboys' one-yard line. But, due to a combination of Dallas timeouts, penalties and the two-minute warning, Big Blue couldn't nail the final coffin in the Cowboys. On 3rd and goal from the one, Eli Manning rolled out of the pocket but threw the ball out of the back of the end zone when he couldn't find any receivers. It stopped the clock and left Dallas just over 1:30 of game time, just enough time to mount their final drive.

Romo threw for 356 yards, three touchdowns and was intercepted twice. Dallas' first turnover was a fumble by receiver Cole Beasley that was recovered and returned for a touchdown by Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie for a Giants 10-6 Giants lead in the final minutes of the first half. A Romo interception on the ensuing possession let the G-Men add a field goal before the break.

Witten had two touchdowns and eight catches for 60 yards. Lance Dunbar caught eight passes out of the backfield for 70 yards. Star wide receiver Dez Bryant had 5 catches but missed significant time. He suffered from dehydration in the first half. Then, apparently broke a bone in his foot that will require surgery, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said after the game.

Manning finished 20 for 36 for 193 yards, no touchdowns or picks. Rashad Jennings had 52 yards on the ground and a score. Odell Beckham Jr. made five catches for 44 yards.

The Giants host the Falcons at MetLife Stadium in week 2 (1:00).
