Verona Woman Killed In Route 31 Crash

A 73-year old Verona woman was killed in a crash at the intersection of State Route 31 and Iris Ridge Road in Verona on Tuesday afternoon.

State Police say Helen Hawthorne failed to stop at the intersection and her vehicle was hit by a pickup truck.  Hawthorne was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup was not seriously injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
