Just a few days ago, box office analysts were predicting a $125 million opening weekend for Jurassic World. Defying all expectations, Jurassic World brought in a whopping $209 million making it the biggest opening weekend of all-time, beating the previous record holder, The Avengers. The team at Marvel took it all in stride, releasing this poster on Twitter congratulating the Jurassic World crew on their achievement.
Every movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe contains at least a couple Easter eggs (along with a cameo from famous Marvel writer Stan Lee). They’re there — if you know where to look and what to look for (it helps to have spent a lifetime reading comic books and books about comic books and watching television shows based on comic books and you get the idea). For those of you still acclimating yourself to the magical world of Marvel — and for those Marvel zombies who just want to make sure they caught everything — we’ve compiled this extensive gallery of the best and geekiest Marvel Easter eggs so far.
Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil has kept reasonably reserved in promotion of its April 10 premiere, but the newest motion poster teases the whole gang, and even a few other superheroes to boot. Meet the full Daredevil cast, and see what Avengers might be lurking nearby in our latest look at Netflix’s man without fear!
Last week, when Robert Downey, Jr. revealed the Iron Man character poster for Avengers 2, he also teased a “big announcement” in 8 days, which would be this upcoming Thursday. We're still a few days away, but we might have our strongest hint yet at what this big announcement is. Last night, ABC ran a promo last night revealing that the third and final Avengers 2 trailer would air on Thursday night during the series premiere of American Crime.
When The Avengers arrived in 2012, the massive final battle between Earth’s mightiest heroes and Loki’s alien army ended up being much bigger and more exciting than the trailers suggested. From the sound of things, we may be in for a similar treat with Avengers 2. In a new interview, writer/director Joss Whedon discussed many aspects of the upcoming sequel, but it’s his comments about the Avengers 2 ending that should get you the most interested.
Since the news that Spider-Man would be joining The Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we couldn't help but wonder what that was going to look like. It was a possibility that many movie fans had hoped for for years, but were told was never going to happen. We didn't even let our minds think of what could be. Now that it's actually going to happen, our minds are reeling. What will it look like to have Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye share the screen with Spider-Man? Well, you can get an idea with this awesome new Marvel movie mashup.
Well, these are awesome. Our pals at ScreenCrush hipped us to some artwork of Alison Brie as Captain America, Sandra Bullock as Iron Man and Amber Heard as Thor.
It’s a debate that has literally raged on for decades. Who would win in a fight: the heroes of the Marvel comic book universe or the heroes of DC Comics? It’s mostly been a theoretical debate. Even a handful of special events over the years that saw both companies come together to pit their characters against one another have done little to solve things. This eternal, burning question is the inspiration behind a new fan-made trailer for a movie that will never, ever exist: ‘Marvel vs DC.’
‘Avengers 2’ director is reassembling almost his entire cast for two weeks in January to film reshoots for ‘Age of Ultron’ and this, in and of itself, is not particularly interesting. It used to be that reshoots were indicative of a larger problem—”the movie isn’t working, so we need to go back and fix it”—but that simply isn’t the case anymore. Every big-budget blockbuster budgets time and money for reshoots into the original production schedule these days. But, what’s interesting in the case of ‘Avengers 2' isn’t that they’re filming something, it’s what they’re filming and who is involved.
Just a little while after we reported the awesome news that Tom Hiddleston's Loki will be featured prominently in both 'Thor: Ragnarok' and both parts of 'Avengers: Infinity War,' we have another 'Avengers' and 'Thor'-related bit of news for you: Idris Elba has confirmed that not only will he be making an appearance in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' but so will the mischief-making Loki.
Every few months, someone on the internet loudly declares that we're probably nearing the end of the superhero movie as a popular genre. And then, every few months, another trailer arrives that proves that we're going to be watching movies starring people wearing capes and tights for a long time yet. The new trailer for 'Avengers 2' lit the internet on fire, as you'd expect from the sequel to one of the most popular blockbusters in recent years. In fact, if success can be measured in trailer views, then Marvel and Disney can already call this one a big winner.
