The Violet Festival began 20 years ago in honor of Lyndon Lyon who developed the first double pink violets in the world out of his greenhouse in Dolgeville.

The wind and ice storm that swept through Central New York this week is still impacting many in Oneida and Herkimer County. On Wednesday there were over 10,000 without power for most of the day. National Grid has worked to correct most of the issues, but some are still in the dark. One local school has even closed for the day.

This weekend is the 17th Annual Dolgeville Festival. It's a year round effort by the residents of Dolgeville to preserve the historical aspects of the Village of Dolgeville.
