The holiday decorations used in the Wonderland of Lights Christmas display, which was discontinued by the Resource Center for Independent Living last March, will have a new life.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi has secured a $30,000 state grant for the City of Rome to purchase the decorations.

RCIL announced in March, 2016 that it was ending the annual fund raiser that thousands of people attended for several years.  Brindisi said after that happened, he decided to look for a suitable home for the displays, and when he met with the City of Rome, he was convinced he had found the solution.

Mayor Jacqueline Izzo says the lighting displays will be placed throughout the city.  Izzo says that will help increase tourist traffic in Rome from Thanksgiving through New Years.
