Have you ever read an article that you found, and then just stopped and shook your head and really wonder what gets into the minds of some people?  Trust me, I have.  This one absolutely blew me away.  If, in fact, this is a scientifically proven disorder, then I may retract my statement, but holy cow, check this out.

There is a condition named Body Integrity Identity Disorder, or BIID.  This is a condition that supposedly causes people to believe that they should be disabled.  It could be the desire to lose a limb, or in this case, the desire to be blind.  Who on earth could ever wish something like this upon themselves?

The individual, whom I will not name, had indicated in the article that she felt that she should have been born blind.  She has felt that way since she was six years old.  She even went so far as to learn Braille by the time she was 20.

Even more shocking, is the fact that she actually found a psychologist to help her to make her wish come true, by actually pouring drain cleaner in her eyes.  What?  Seriously???

Well, guess what?  Over the next few months, her eyesight started to deteriorate.  Who’d of guessed it?

She’s telling friends and relatives that she had become blind by accident.  She has no regrets and she continues to feel that this was who she was supposed to be.

What are your thoughts on this?  Could this condition be real?  This definitely was the strangest thing I’ve read in a long time.
