‘Whiplash’ Trailer: Miles Teller Wants to Be One of the Greats
One of the films to gain a lot of buzz at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year was 'Whiplash,' an intense indie drama starring Miles Teller as a young man pursuing a career as a jazz drummer. And if that doesn't sound like it would be very riveting, let this first trailer persuade you.
The first trailer for 'Whiplash' is now online, and it's already been on our must-see list since earlier this year. Teller stars as an up and coming jazz drummer following his dream to be "one of the greats." In order to do that, he begins studying under Terence Fletcher (J.K. Simmons), a hard and fierce jazz orchestra instructor who pushes the young student over the edge. Judging by the trailer, things get rather tense and aggressive, which should work well with the heavy jazz percussion throughout.
'Whiplash' also stars Paul Reiser and Melissa Benoist, and comes from writer/director Damien Chazelle, who wrote the screenplay for the thriller 'Grand Piano,' starring Elijah Wood and John Cusack. The film is executive produced in part by Jason Reitman, and Blumhouse Productions (the folks who brought us 'Sinister') also backed the film. You can see 'Whiplash' when it hits theaters in limited release on October 10.
