It's possible that parts of New York State could get upwards of 3 feet of snow by Wednesday. The lake effect snow will mostly hit the counties of Northern Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis. These include the towns of Fair Haven, Oswego, Watertown, and Lowville. Lake effect snow warning continues until 6 PM Wednesday.

Some parts of the Tug Hill area already have over 32 inches of snow on the ground with more on the way. If you are traveling be sure to check  Thruway conditions before you head west and New York State Department of Transportation

Additionally, a Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 am Wednesday with a Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 9 pm this evening to noon on Thursday. with 6 to 12 inches possible with localized amounts up to 20 inches in far Northwestern Oneida County. It would be a good idea if you are heading west to check conditions every hour as conditions on the Thruway can change with little or no warning as well as secondary roads. If you are heading to northern New York keep in mind Lake Effect stays in effect for Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and Northern Cayuga, The hardest hit areas of the Tug Hill could receive total snowfall accumulation of 4 to 6 Feet.

This is a serious Lake effect storm and should not be taken lightly be prepared when traveling to the west or north.
