As a child born in the late 60s, growing up in the 70s and 80s, we had Hanna Barbera pretty much crammed down our throats.  Classics like Scooby Doo, Grape Ape, and Hong Kong Phooey just to name a few.  Let's not forget the antics of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the rest of the Looney Tunes.  And absolutely nothing beat Saturday mornings with Sid and Marty Kroft - Remember HR Puffinstuff?  How about Sigmund and the Sea Monsters?  Land of the Lost.  Classics!

So what is this that our kids are watching now.  I spied my 8 year old watching his regular lineup on Cartoon Network. I the violence we remember has been replace with language like "poop" and "farts".  Between Nickolodeon, Cartoon Network, and Disney, kids can pretty much watch cartoons 24/7 if we let them.  Believe me, my little guy is no exception.  Here are a few of his favorites...

1.  Uncle Grandpa - Is that physically possible?  Handlebar mustache and a rainbow beanie.

2.  Spongbob Squarepants - We all know him.  Ok, I'll admit, I kind of like that one.

3.  Adventure Time

4.  The Regular Show

5.  Craig and Sanjay?  Did I say that right?

I miss our cartoons, and if I'm lucky, I can sometimes reminisce with an occasional marathon on the tube.  Here are some my favorites....remember these?

Bugs Bunny - Voiced by Mel Blanc, smart aleck rabbit with a New York accent.

Wile Coyote - Always after the roadrunner, extremely violent - Maybe that's why you don't see this guy as much anymore.

Foglorn Leghorn - Stuttering rooster with a southern accent - always had an anecdote to share.

Daffy Duck - Duck with a lisp, seems like a lot of speech impediments in Looney Tunes

Grape Ape - and his pal Beagley

Hong Kong Phooey - Number one superguy, er dog

Underdog - Always saving sweet Polly

The list is endless, but remember how we were pretty much restricted to cartoons on Saturday morning.  There was no DVR, no VCR, and certainly no "On-Demand"  I think we love those cartoons because they were on, thinking back now, the quality was probably somewhat substandard.  But hey, we love them anyway!  What toons are your kids watching?
