Watch Steven Tyler and Taylor Swift Sing ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’
Fresh from his duet with Hayden Panettiere on the season premiere of the ABC series Nashville, Steven Tyler decided to carry the idea into the real world. Last night (Sept. 25), the Aerosmith singer joined Taylor Swift onstage during her show at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
The song they performed together was "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," which Aerosmith recorded for the 1998 summer blockbuster Armageddon. Surprisingly, it was their first and, to date, only No. 1 single, keeping the top spot for four weeks while gaining an Oscar nomination and winning the MTV Movie Award for Best Song From a Movie.
Tyler, as has been reported for almost a year now, has been spending time in Nashville working on a country album. All that's been heard so far is the single, "Love Is Your Name," which made the Top 20 of Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. While he was originally hoping to have the record out before the end of the year, two weeks ago he said that it would likely be ready around February 2016. As a solo artist, Tyler is signed to Big Machine Records, which is also Swift's label.
Following the concert, the two stars shared their feeling on Twitter. Tyler, with his customary exuberance, wrote, "Holy Swift!!! @TaylorSwiftT13 ...Shined so hot n bright she made the sun jealous!!! Thanks for the fun" and Swift noted that "Singing 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' with @IamStevenT was an honor. So inspired by how sweet he was to all of us." Back in 2012, Swift tweeted, "I feel like I'd be more understood if people knew 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' by Aerosmith is how most of my emotions sound in my head." Tyler re-tweeted her, adding "Well, ma darlin'...you sure were overstood tonight! A++ Epic show...Until nextime...
