Family trips are all about creating memories. The memory for one family in Lee Center will be dad's kayak struggles.

Brad Taylor took his family kayaking in Old Forge. He and his daughter usually share a tandem kayak, but she's 14, and wanted her own. So Brad borrowed one from a friend. "I think he thought because that kayak was so long it would be a good one for him to use," his wife Sheri explains. "But he had a really hard time getting in or out of it all day long. Even tipped it over a few times along the way, losing whatever was in his pockets into the river."

Luckily the important things like a wallet and cell phone weren't lost. "I had those," says Sheri.

The Taylor's kayaked down river from North Street in Old Forge, getting out at Mountain Man Sports. "It's a good trip and pretty easy for all ages, as long as you can get in and out of your kayak," jokes Sheri. "Things like this make the best memories."
