The Utica Zoo has made learning about animals even more fun with their Winter Zoo Camps - Perfect for children of any age, with a variety of different learning experiences.

Does your child or grandchild love animals? Maybe they're a fan of birds, or maybe they always wanted a snake for a pet. Well, the Utica Zoo is offering special 'camps' in a variety of fields that your young ones can attend. Below is a list of the camps available and what they teach:

WILD WINTER: This 'camp' teaches kids about how animals stay warm and get their food during the winter months. They also go over how the zookeepers take care of the animals throughout the cold season.
This event is on December 28th from 9am - 12noon and for children in pre-K to 1st grade. Cost is $20 per child (members) or $25 per child (for non-members).

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST: Children will learn how different animals adapt to their environment, and how certain skills (whether they're slow and sneaky, strong, or super fast), help them survive.
This camp is on December 30th from 9am - 3pm and for children in 2nd grade to 5th grade. Cost is $30 per child (members) or $35 per child (for non-members).

ALL ABOUT BIRDS: The title describes this camp perfectly - When they say "all," they mean it. Young ones will learn about beaks, feathers, eggs, talons, and everything else bird-related.
This event is on February 21st from 9am - 12noon and for kids in pre-K to 1st grade. Cost is $20 per child (members) or $25 per child (for non-members).

CRITTER KEEPER: If your child or grandchild ever wanted a pet, this camp is perfect for them. They'll learn how zookeepers take care of all the critters at the zoo and what it takes to own a pet and take care of an animal responsibly.
This camp is on February 22nd from 9am - 3pm and for children in 2nd grade to 5th grade. Cost is $30 per child (members) or $35 per child (for non-members).

Pre-registration is required for all these winter zoo camps. You can pre-register (and get more details) by calling the Utica Zoo at: (315) 738-0472 ext. 36, or email: kathleen.mcgill@uticazoo.org
