The city of Utica will serve as New York's 'Capital for a Day' on Thursday, according to an invitation sent to the heads of several Mohawk Valley-area not for profit groups.

The invite says the day will include a ribbon cutting at the pedestrian walking bridge over the North-South Arterial, a walking tour along the route to update progress on the overall arterial project, along with a discussion about multi-modal projects along the arterial and Route 5s corridor.

The letter explains the Governor's 'Capital for a Day' initiative includes a visit from the Governor himself and several member of his leadership team and cabinet, 'providing an opportunity for state government to interact with local communities.'

Many have hoped and speculated that Cuomo would be visiting the region soon to announce a tenant at the Marcy Nanocenter site. However, the invite does not mention the ongoing effort to land an employer at the site, or a stop at the multi-million dollar facilities on the SUNY Poly campus.
