A local theatre group - M. Proctor Theatre Guild will be performing the musical version of Xanadu, based on the 1980 movie that starred Olivia Newton-John and featured a lot of incredible songs from Electric Light Orchestra Although the movie was considered to be a flop at the time, it featured a couple number 1 hits for Olivia Newton-John - "Magic" and "Xanadu". Side 2 of the original soundtrack was written by Jeff Lynne and performed by ELO, with songs like "I'm Alive", "All Over The World", and the title track.

Since it's original release, the film became a cult classic.  It was given new life on Broadway in 2007.  The non-profit group M. Proctor Theatre Guild has assembled a local cast and crew and will be performing the musical version November 19-22 at Grace Church in downtown Utica.  And yes, there will be rollerskating!  It's directed by Peter Loftus, who has done numerous shows in the area with various groups, including this year's performance of Scrooge.  Loftus is joined once again by musical director Bonnie Hibbard.
