February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. Each year in New York State a campaign is run by the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and this year they're calling it "I Can Do Something." One local teen was selected to be a part of the promotional video.

Adrian Smith is a senior at Notre Dame High School. She told WKTV,

I accepted the invitation to be in this PSA because I feel that this is an extremely important issue.  Unfortunately, this topic very often flies under the radar because those involved are young and inexperienced. They are simply unaware of the components of a healthy relationship. If they do realize that their relationship is troubled, they often are embarrassed to talk to a parent or teacher. This issue needs to be discussed openly to educate as many teens as possible.

The campaign is seeking students between the ages of 14-18 to produce and submit a video that demonstrates the values and keys to a healthy relationship. Entries are due by January 31st, 2016.
