Why bother with a giraffe in another town when you can watch a falcon in Utica, New York lay eggs. Falcon's have been known to lay up to 3 eggs. The first egg was laid on April Fools day this year, no joke here. The feeling is the female will possibly have 2 more eggs to come.

This nesting pair have been the most successful in Oneida County. The current peregrine falcon nesting pair have been coming back to the Adirondack Bank building since 2007.according to the Utica Peregrine Falcon Project.

The use of DDT in the 60's almost caused the demise of the peregrine falcon. Banning the use of DDT was a good start to help the species. The peregrine is still on the endangered species but improving each year.
