Would you consider Utica and Central New York lazy? We are far from it! However, Zippia The Career Expert is saying we are among some of the laziest places in New York State.

Zippia used "data/numbers" to come up with this following list:

“Laziest Places in New York”

1) Salamanca
2) Gloversville
3) Massena
4) Jamestown
5) Niagara Falls
6) Utica
7) Dunkirk
8) Fulton
9) Elmira
10) Medina

Zippia used the latest version of the American Community Survey, and the Census Bureau j2010-2014 5-Yr Estimate to gather data for this survey. Then they looked at the following parts of data:

- Lowest average hours worked
- Shortest commute time
- Fewest workers per household (Labor force divided by the number households)
- Highest unemployment rate
- Fewest adults with a college degree

This was their "logic" in making this list:

Our thinking went something along the lines of if you can’t bother to go college, don’t spend any time at work, and have only one person per household bringing home the bacon, your town is probably pretty lazy.

Here's the stats for Utica:

Population: 61,852
College Educated: 16.6%
Unemployment Rate: 12.9%"

Would you consider our region lazy?
