The Comets took it to the Marlies but couldn't hold the lead and lost a close one to the Marlies at the Ricoh Coliseum.

Defensemen Chatfield got the first blood five minutes into the game getting a wrist shot past the Marlies goalie. Forward MacMaster widen that lead by one three and a half minutes later.

Marlies Engvall cut the Comets lead at just 1:39 into the second period pushing a one-timer past Utica goalie Bachman. LoVererde tied the game at two with 8:07 left to go in the third period Bachman and Sparks were perfect in the last eight minutes to send the game into overtime.

The Marlies Adam Brooks score the game-winning goal with 32 seconds left in overtime to win the game with an assist from Holl and Moore.

The Comets are back on the ice tonight for the rematch with the Marlies, the puck drops at 7 pm at the Adirondack Bank Center.
