Comets fans are all up in arms as left winger, Darren Archibald was suspended by the AHL for three games because of a check he dished out on in Albany over the weekend. Most Comets fans feel that this suspension is unwarranted but regardless, Darren will not play for the rest of the week... Here's the controversial hit...

Here are some comments from Comets fan that sum up the thoughts of many other fans...

...When it comes to the supplemental discipline that was handed out by the league vis-a-vis the suspension, I feel a 3 game ban is unwarranted and violates the AHL's own criterion for suspending a player. Specifically, Archibald has no history of injuring other players nor was the Albany Devil player "defenseless" to Archibald's check. The league needs to explain in greater detail why the check in Albany warranted such a punishment. - Chris Peek

And for the sake of nostalgia (and some perspective), here's Archibald's famous check from last season against the same team. The guy did a flipping front flip!!
