A new murder mystery series set here in Upstate New York makes it's premiere on the USA Network tonight. "The Sinner", an eight-episode anthology-series is based upon Petra Hammesfahr's 1999 book of the same name stars former 7th Heaven star Jessica Biel.

According to Syracuse.com - Biel plays a young mother and wife named Cora Bender -  who while on a trip considers taking her own life suddenly goes into a murderous rage and stabs a stranger to death with an apple peeler. Cora claims she doesn't know the victim or why she did it.

Actor Bill Pullman (While You Were Sleeping, Casper, Independence Day and many other films) plays Detective Harry Ambrose. In the show, Ambrose sets out to investigate possible motives of the horrific crime.

Although, scenes were shot in New York's Hudson Valley,  the series itself is set at Minnewaska State Park in Ulster County.

Jessica Biel not only played one of the main characters in the series, she also served as Executive Producer. She recently wrapped production of a Rob Reiner film entitled Shock and Awe in which she co-stars with Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones and James Marsden.

"The Sinner" made it's debut at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival.
