United 93 Crash Site Fourteen Years Later [Photos]

Today all across the country Americans remember those who tragically lost their lives as a result of terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington D.C., and a small field in Western Pennsylvania. Those brave airline passengers on United Flight 93 sacrificed their lives, saving several others. We have photos from that crash site and what it looks like today.

After the first and second planes hit the World Trade Center's Twin Towers, the question was raised, who will be next? It wasn't much longer after the attacks in New York City that the Pentagon in Washington D.C. was hit. One of the four planes hijacked on that day didn't make it to its intended target due to the bravery of the 44 passengers on board. On  September 10th, 2011 the memorial for this site was dedicated and there are still more plans in the works. Right now a boulder is placed in the exact spot where the plane hit the ground and can only be seen from a distance. There is also a place at the site for visitors to leave their thoughts about the legacy of Flight 93. The plans that still remain are for living memorials such as the planting of various trees.

Take a moment today to remember all those who lost their lives on that tragic day 14 years ago, but especially those brave souls who gave their lives to save others in that small patch of land in tiny Stonycreek Township, Pennsylvania.
