Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is officially going fun-size. Netflix has booked a May return date for the fourth season of Ellie Kemper’s delightful cult comedy, albeit one that guarantees another premiere later this year.

Netflix formally confirmed that the first half of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 4 will premiere on Wednesday, May 30, just in time for summer break. That premiere will consist of only six episodes, however, as the fourth season will be divided into May’s premiere and another debut “later in 2018.”

No explicit reason was given for the change, but this isn’t the first time the series has switched up its premiere schedule to accommodate production. Additionally, TVLine notes that the first half may have sought to make the 2018 Emmy window by airing its episodes prior to the cutoff deadline of May 31. The series has been nominated sixteen different times, including three for Outstanding Comedy Series.

We’ll likely see more official photos and footage closer to April, but will Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt pack the same punch in smaller doses? Stay tuned for the latest.
