What got into Torii Hunter?

The Minnesota Twins outfielder argued a called third strike in Wednesday's game against the Royals, got ejected, then had what you can only describe as an epic tantrum.

I get that the pitch was a hair or two outside, but he argued and got tossed - that's what the rule book says. I think you can even see the home plate umpire mouthing 'you're gonna go, you're gonna go', warning Hunter that if he didn't stop arguing he'd be tossed. He didn't stop and was disqualified for it. Then Twins coach Paul Molitor got thrown out, too, when he came out to defend his player and argued.

What followed was an out of character fit from Hunter, who took off and threw his batting gloves, shin/ankle protection and jersey. He also shrugged off/pushed off another umpire who was trying to calm him down. That may earn Hunter a find or suspension for making contact with the official.
