It’s was rumored David Bowie’s ashes would be scattered in upstate New York near Bethel. We now have confirmation his ashes will be dispersed per Buddhist rituals in Bali.

USA Today reports that documents filed in a New York court leaves about $100 million to his wife and children.

The will, prepared in 2004 and filed under the singer's legal name, David Robert Jones, asked that his ashes be scattered "in accordance with the Buddhist rituals," the AP reported. According to a death certificate filed with the will, Bowie's body was cremated on Jan. 12 in New Jersey.

 

Bowie lived in the Catskill Mountains for the last few years. Rumors were his ashes would be scattered at his secret mountain retreat in Shokan. Locals would often see Bowie, his wife and daughter frequenting area’s shops, restaurants and the local gym.

On January 17 The Epoch Times reported:

Only Bowie’s close family members will know exactly where the ashes will be scattered, but the Sun on Sunday cites sources saying it will be somewhere in upstate New York near Woodstock. Bowie and his family were often seen in the area. “After decades of frenetic city living, David finally found peace in the mountains and that’s where I am sure some of his remains will go, David was very private in life and intended to remain so in death. But you can rest assured he told his family exactly where he wanted his ashes scattered.”

Rolling Stone Magazine says Bowie's children are left with the estate in Upstate New York.

As for Bowie's estate, the singer left half of his net worth and his SoHo apartment in New York to wife Iman. His two children Duncan Jones and Alexandria Jones each received 25 percent of his estate, with the latter also given the family's upstate New York property. Bowie also left his longtime assistant Corinne Schwab $2 million and shares in a company called Opossum Inc. and gifted Alexandria's one-time nanny $1 million.
