Turning Stone Casino is adding four retail boutiques through a partnership with Syracuse entrepreneur Joel Shapiro who owns and operates Mr. Shop in Armory Square.

The four retail shops will be at the front of the Tower at Turning Stone, Oneida Nation officials announced. There will be two women's clothing shops, an activewear shop for men and women, and a jewelry and accessories boutique officials said. All are slated to open this fall. The boutiques will carry both national brands and original lines they said.

Shapiro currently runs the Syracuse menswear retailer, Mr. Shop. The retail store was started by Bernard Shapiro, Joel's father, in the 1960's. It originally operated out of Shopping Town Mall, moving to Armory Square in Syracuse around 1990.

The shop names have not been announced as yet. The new shops will replace two existing shops and will take up about 4,500 square feet at the Tower's entrance, said Joel Barkin, a Turning Stone spokesman. Employees who worked for the two shops will transfer to other positions at the casino.
