Sony Classics Pictures has released a trailer for ‘Journeys,’ the Jonathan Demme-directed film which combines footage from Neil Young‘s 2011 solo show at Toronto’s Massey Hall with a road trip up through his native Ontario. The documentary, which premiered at Sundance this past January, will be in theaters June 29.

In the trailer, Young drives through Omemee, the “town in north Ontario with dream comfort memory to spare” he sang about in 1970′s ‘Helpless.’ Young spent his childhood in Omemee before the family moved to the Toronto area. Driving through it in a 1956 Ford Crown Victoria nearly 60 years after he moved away, Young points out what has changed and what has remained. “It certainly doesn’t look anything like it did before, he said. “But I can smell it.” Throughout the trailer, music from Young’s concert plays.

On June 5, Young, whose song ‘Rockin’ in the Free World‘ was No. 34 on our list of the Top 100 Classic Rock Songs, will release ‘Americana,’ in which he and his longtime cohorts Crazy Horse radically redefine a handful of classic American folk songs, including ‘Oh Susannah.’
