Jackie Collins has passed away from breast cancer at the age of 77. That comes as a shock to her fans because she kept her illness to herself and close family for more than 6 years.  

Jackie Collins has sold more than 500 million copies from 32 of her best selling novels. She was extremely successful writing on the topics of sex, glamour, wealth and basically life in the fast lane in Hollywood.

She is survived by 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren and her older sister, actress Joan Collins. Her family released this statement.

"It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today. She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining over four decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail-blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.”

2 weeks ago, after rediscovering Lucky Santangelo in 'Confessions Of A Wild Child' by Jackie Collins, I purchased the 7 books that preceded it and also ordered her latest novel 'The Santangelos.' I've owned and read 6 of the 8 books before and enjoyed it so much I'm doing it again before I read The Santangelos.

Jackie Collins had her last interview with People Magazine on September 14 and said this:

 "I did it my way, as Frank Sinatra would say. I've written five books since the diagnosis, I've lived my life, I've travelled all over the world, I have not turned down book tours and no one has ever known until now when I feel as though I should come out with it," said Collins, whose treatments over the years included a lumpectomy, radiation and various drug courses and combinations.
