Ever since it was announced at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference in 2013, Tom Clancy’s The Division has been one of the most eagerly-anticipated games of the last few years. Originally intended for eighth generation consoles, the game has faced a slow development cycle, and is now planned for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Today we find out that another delay has pushed The Division’s release date to an uncertain date in 2015.

On the game’s website, the development team officially announced the delay, but stayed optimistic about the game’s development, stating, “We are creating something we are really proud of and we don't want to compromise on quality.” Despite the delay, Ubisoft promises that The Division will make an appearance eat next month’s E3 conference; “The production is getting stronger every day and we can't wait to show you what we’ve been up to at this year’s E3.”

This delay should come as no great surprise, as anonymous sources in the Division camp have previously scoffed at the idea of a 2014 release date for the tactical third-person shooter. IGN reported in January that an insider informed them that the game’s development was still in a very early phase, stating, "The game engine works well, it's not done, but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however.” He added, “The fact that Ubisoft has gone public with a 2014 release date feels laughable to be perfectly honest, we will never be able to release The Division this year. It's a large project, and we have very far to go."
