Respawn Entertainment's CEO and founder has confirmed that his company is currently working on Titanfall 2, and that the series is no longer an Xbox exclusive.

In an interview with IGN, Vince Zampella, the CEO and founder of Respawn Entertainment and founder of Infinity Ward, revealed that Titanfall 2 is in development and will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. He hinted that EA previously killed the big surprise by saying that Titanfall's sequels wouldn't be an Xbox exclusive, but he doesn't mind. Zampella mentions that it doesn't have an official name yet, so Titanfall 2 might actually be called Titanfall 2: Titanfall Harder, Titanfall: The Search for a Plot or something else of that sort. Doesn't it feel like the movie and video game industries are really trying hard to avoid having numbers in their sequels' titles nowadays?

When asked if the Respawn crew wished they could alter anything about last year's hit title, Respawn COO Dusty Welch immediately retorted by wishing it had a multi-platform release. As we hoped, both Welch and Zampella promised to expand the game's lore and narrative this time around, though a single-player campaign was not confirmed.

Here's what Zampella said about Titanfall's online multiplayer-only style of gameplay:

I wouldn't have done it differently. We set out to do it and it was one of our goals. I mean it obviously prohibits a certain group of people playing the game, and as content creators you want to get into as many peoples's hands as possible. We put some single-player elements in there though, and tried to mix it up. Maybe we could have mixed things up a bit better because some people blew right by it and didn't even see it because there was so much action happening around it. It's tough, because if you hit people over the head with it it becomes intrusive, and there are people who don't want or care about it. Where does the needle fall? I think it takes a while to figure that out and we haven't figured it out yet.

Zampella did mention that the company would be changing its approach to DLC, pointing out Turtle Rock's offerings of both free and premium content with Evolve as a path they would like to follow. While there wasn't much else that Zampella and Welch could say about Titanfall 2: Titanfall Harder, all jokes aside, we're eagerly anticipating the sequel to one of the best first-person shooters of 2014. Stay tuned as we'll provide up-to-date coverage on Titanfall 2 once Respawn releases more info.
