‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Has a TV Spot, Could Run Three Hours

As we wait for Martin Scorsese‘s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill and hits theaters in a month, there’s still gossip about the movie and how long it will be, which comes on the heels of the film’s first TV spot.
Indiewire found a post from the French website Alocine, who suggest the film’s running time is 179 minutes — that is to say, one minute shy of three hours. The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters for Thanksgiving, and that release date shuffle was reportedly due to the film having an unwieldy run time. It’s possible that the movie is great at three hours, and considering it’s Martin Scorsese, we put faith in the master filmmaker that if it needs to be three hours long, it will be great at that length. Indiewire also mention that the film could be fighting against an NC-17 rating, which (if so) means they’re really getting down to the wire on this one.
Last night ‘American Hustle‘ had its first screening, which means ‘Wolf’ is now the only big Oscar contender that has yet to screen. No pressure. ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ hits theaters December 25. Here’s the synopsis:
